• • <br />Cook into the community situation as it now stands and work <br />on problems as they arise from either white or colored <br />areas. The committee requests that you establish a committee <br />or planning group such as this. <br />Our committees meet again on August 92th, and tf <br />possible would like your response for that meeting. Our <br />meeting will be a jotnt meeting with the colored people's <br />committee, and any or all of you are welcome to attend. <br />Several of the members from both temporary <br />committees are available if needed to serve on such a <br />planning group if appointed.-- <br />Mayor Pfeiffer explained that the Commission had <br />discussed this and that the Commission had decided to appoint <br />such a committee. Ne asked both Mr. Blair and Mr. Gales <br />to present a list of names to fhe Commission whom they would <br />recommend for this committee. The Commission would then <br />appoint the Committee at an early date. <br />* « <br />• <br />3. Mr. Ned V. Scott, Jr., representing Fiiter- <br />Media, inc. appeared before the Commission, requesting the <br />abandonment of the dedicated street of West Polk from North <br />98th Street to the Southern Paciftc Railroad Main Line on <br />the Western edge of town; the portion requested to be aban- <br />doned being the section between Block 699 and 794. <br />The request was referred to the City Attorney for <br />study and appropriate action. <br />904. <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE WEST <br />FOLK FROM N0. 98TH 1'O <br />RAILROAD <br /> <br />4. Mr. E. M, Cannon, representing United Gas UNITED GAS CORP. <br />Corporation, appeared before the Commission requesting a REQUEST FRAIvCNISE. <br />franchise for the United Gas Corporation to do business to <br />the City of La Porfe. <br />The request was referred to the City Attorney for <br />study and appropriate action. <br /> <br />• <br />5. Ne Ci~iea <br />the following proposed expenditures: Administratton ,~ 68,456; <br />Shop Expenses $ 6,862; Streets ~ 53,730; Police ~ 53,300; <br />Fire Department ~ 24,675; Civil Defense $ 500; Health and <br />Sanitation ,~ 48,125; Recreatton Department ~ 5,500; Swtmming <br />Pool Department ~ 3,859; Airport ,~ 4,225; Debt Service (not <br />bonded) ,~ 95,705; Water Department ,~ 53,745; Sewer Department <br />~ 23,303 and Water and Sewer Bond Service $ 30,000. <br />Mayor Pfeiffer, after explaining the needs of the <br />City and the various proposed appropriations, opened the <br />PClBL l C NEARING NEL D <br />ON 63-64 BUDGET <br />
