<br />• <br />• <br />MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />LA PORTS CITY COMM/SS/ON, LA FORTE, TEXAS <br />May 98, 9966 <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION PRESENT: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, Commissioners <br />Charles D. Boyle, Lois J. Compton, and W. A, Stabs, Jr. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: Commissioner Russell Shepherd. <br />OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Attorney Knox Askins, Superin- <br />tendent of Wafer Works Lyman Cunningham, Chief of Police <br />H. F. Freeman, Fire Marshall H. Gould Crofoot, and City <br />Clerk Marilyn Kelley. <br />PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. <br />+ + + <br />9, The minutes of the regular meeting of May 2, 9966 and a special <br />meeting of May 9, 9966, were approved as written. <br />+ + <br />2. The City Attorney reported to the Commission information <br />that he had received concerning Self-Service Service <br />Stations. He stated that he had received information both <br />for and against allowtng such operations. <br />Mr. A, M. Ewing of the 7-99 Stores, explained the proposed <br />operafion of the seCf service station. <br />Mr. OdeiC Williams presented a news paper clipping from <br />Salt Lake City stating that they had disallowed such operations. <br />Commissioner Stabs stated that he thought fhe Commission would <br />be doing the residents of the City a favor by outlawing unattended <br />pumps. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, seconded by Commissioner <br />Compton and carried, that the City Attorney be authorized to <br />prepare an ordinance prohibiting the installation of self- <br />service gasoline pumps. <br />+ + + <br />3. Rev. Wallace ,Ford, Chairman of the Study Committee for Low Rent <br />Housing, gave a report on the investigation the committee has <br />made of the need for low rent housing in our City. Rev. Ford <br />stated that the Committee would Cike to recommend that the <br />Commission establish a Housing Authority. Action was tabled <br />until a full Commission can be present. <br />+ + + <br /> <br /> <br />
