Pfeiffer, Commissioners <br />W. A. Stabs, Jr., Lois J. Compton, Russell Shepherd, and Charles <br />D. Boyle. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: None <br />OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Attorney Knox W. Askins, City Engineer <br />H. Carlos Smith, Superintendent of Streets Clifford Ellis, Cith <br />Clerk Marilyn Kelley, and Superintendent of Waterworks Lyman <br />Cunningham. <br />PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. <br />+ + + <br />1. Minutes of the regular meeting of October~l7, 1966 were amended as <br />follows: <br />Item No. 9 to read - "Sewer L ine at Library - .61,277.50rr <br />"Sewer Line at Civic Center - .310.00" <br />Minutes of the special meetings of October 27, 1966 and October <br />31, 1966 were approved as written. <br />+ + + <br />2. A committee representing Happy Harbor appeared before the Commission <br />stating that the did not feel that they owe the City of La Porte <br />any delinquent taxes, aCthough a tax suit has been filed against <br />them. Mr. Joe Thigpen stated that the Title Company obtained a <br />tax certificate in 1961, stating the all taxes were paid. <br />The City Attorney explained the City's position, and pointed out <br />that the 'tax certificate covered another reserve tract other than <br />the one in question. <br />Mayor Pfeiffer stated that the office would search all of the <br />records for any type of receipt or evidence that the taxes have <br />been paid. <br />+ + + <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
