The City Attorney recommended that the Mayor be authorized <br />to sign the filing of Weed Liens. <br />Mr. Frank Boyle stated that his name appears on the fist to <br />be filed and requested that it be removed, due to the fact that <br />he had Collins Tractor Company cut the property and had paid for <br />same on August 5, 1968, with check no. 1783. <br />Commissioner Charles Boyle requested that he go on record as withholding <br />any comment and vote. <br />After considerable discussion, the Commission advised Mr. Boyle <br />that if he would get a notarized statement from Collins Tractor <br />Company, stating that he mowed the property, the City would <br />remove his name upon receipt of same. <br />Further action on the filing of weed Ztens was tabled. <br />fi + + <br />9. Commissioner Crofoot made a motion, seconded by Commissioner <br />Boyle, that the Commission create a Lieutenant position in the <br />Police Department, and that Floyd Reynolds be appointedto fill <br />same, in addition to his /. D. duties, and further that he be <br />granted a salary increase of ,20.00 per month. Motion carried. <br />+ + + <br />10. The City Attorney recommended that the City release the paving <br />lien against the property only, Lots 13 thru 16, Block 63, Town <br />of Ln Porte. <br />Commissioner Boyle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner <br />Burgin, that theCtty release the lien against the property only. <br />Motion carried. <br />+ + + <br />11. The Ctty Administrator stated that the City has been requested <br />to install a telephone at the North Side Civic Center and <br />also pay for the public phone at the La Porte Civic Center. <br />The Commission requested the City Administrator to check with <br />the Telephone Company and find out the reasons for removfng <br />the phone that was previously at the Civic Center and also the <br />one that was at the Telephone office. <br />+ + + <br />12. Commissioner Crofoot made a motion, seconded by Commissioner <br />Compton, that Pat Patterson be employed as a Police Officer <br />at a salary of $575.00 per month, employment subject to approval <br />of each Commissioner.
