i <br />• <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />LA PORTS CITY COMMISSION, LA PORTS, TEXAS <br />AUGUST 7, 1969 <br />7:00 P. M. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION PRESENT: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, Comm- <br />issioners hobby J. Burgin, Charles D. Boyle, H. Gould Crofoot, <br />and E. A. Thomas. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: None <br />OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Administrator P. V. Werner, <br />City Clerk Virginia Cline, City Attorney Knox Askins. <br />PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. <br />1. Mr. E.C. Barlow presented to th.e Commission the tabulation <br />of bids for street work received August 4, 1969, and read <br />his letter of recommendation. Mr. Barlow also stated t~e <br />Contractor has 45 calendar days to complete the work. See <br />Exhibit 1) <br />2. Mr. Joe Camp appeared before the Commission in regards to <br />the Escrow Agreement with the City. After detailed dis- <br />cussion Mr. Askins was authorized to redraft an agreement <br />with Mr. Camp, said agreement to read in part, City to <br />remit one-half of fees assessed on water installation in <br />blocks 125, 126, 127, 138, 139, 140, 141, and sewer only <br />in Block 117, all in City of La Porte, until such time as <br />Mr. Camp shall have been reimbursed $2,684.75 for a max- <br />imum period of 5 years. Tap and meter inspection shall <br />not be reimbursed. Commissioner Boyle made a motion, <br />seconded by Commissioner Thomas that said contract be <br />accepted by City. Motion carried. <br />3. The City Clerk was instructed to contact the following <br />individuals pursuant to serving as a Board of Directors <br />for the proposed La Forte Municipal District No. 1: <br />J. F. Mayes, Russell Shepherd, Bruce Angel, Jack Lawler <br />and S. C. Cook. <br />4. Commissioner Thomas made a motion, seconded by Commissioner <br />Boyle that the City purchase 1 Selectric I. B. M. type- <br />writer at a cost of $486.00, and 1 Olympia standard type- <br />writer at a cost of $225.00. Motion carried. <br />5. Mr. Werner read a letter from Mr. F. T. Baldwin concern- <br />ing the condition of a manhole located at the end of <br />Oakgrove and Bayshore Drive. Commissioner Burgin recom- <br />mended that this be referred to Dick Cunningham for <br />disposition. <br />
