<br />MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />LA PO/?TE CITY CAMM/SS/ON, LA PORTS, TEXAS <br />SEPTEMBER 8, 1969 <br />7:00 P. M. <br />MEMBERS OF THE CA~9/SS/ON PRESENT: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, Commfssfoners <br />Bobby J. Burgin, Charles D. Boyle, H, Gould Crofoot and E. A. Thomas. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COhM/SS/ON ABSENT: None. <br />OTHER CITY OFF/C/ALS PRESENT: City Administrator P. V. Werner,City Clerk <br />Virginia Cline, City Attorney Knox Askins and Chief of Police H.F.Freeman. <br />PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. <br />1. <br />2. <br />3. <br />4. <br />5. <br />Minutes of the regular meeting of August 18, 1969 and the special <br />meeting of August 25, 1969 were approved as presented. <br />+ + + + + + + <br />Mr. Ed Barlow, consulting engineer, presented a report on the <br />repair work needed at the main lift station, 4th and L street. <br />Mr. Barlow also reported that the street paving program was <br />nearing completion. <br />The Commission asked Mr. Barlow to check on the sewer lines on the <br />northside. The City will furnish manpower and equipment to uncover <br />the tines. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Boyle, seconded by Commissioner <br />Thomas that Mr. Barlow be authortzed to check out the digestor <br />at the sewer plant for any repair work needed on it. Motion carried. <br />+ + + + t + + <br />The Commission requested more time to study the Ordinance on <br />licensing of air conditioning contractors. <br />+ + + + + + + <br />Mr. Werner reported that street sweeping from Commercial Sweeping <br />Service cost ,8.00 per curbed mile, per sweeping. Arrangements <br />have been made with the Police Dept. and Mr. Robberson of <br />Commercial Sweeping to have someone from the sweeping service <br />check in at the police station on the night the streets are to be <br />swept, then someone from the City will check the next morning to <br />see if the streets have been swept. <br />+ + + * + + + <br />Commissioner Burgin reported that he and Mr. Werner ha~- looked <br />into the request for a street light on the new service road <br />between "B" and "C" street. <br />Mayor Pfeiffer stated the State has no objection to the opentng <br />of the remaining portion of "C" street that is presently closed. <br />Commissioner Burgin stated the most logical place for a street <br />light would be at 11th and C street. He recommended action on <br />this request be tabled until the next meeting. <br />+ + + + + + + <br /> <br />
