• <br />tape and the rule would be that the Petitioner <br />and others appearing on behalf of the re-zoning <br />would be permitted to speak first, then any that <br />opposed the re-zoning would be permitted to speak. <br />It was ascertained that notices were mailed to all <br />property owners within 200 feet of the property to <br />be re-zoned on September 29, 1970 and that a Public <br />Notice of this hearing was published in the official <br />newspaper of the City on October 1, 1970. <br />Mr. I. J. Huacuja, the Petitioner, addressed the <br />Commission in regards to the type of townhouses <br />that would be constructed. Mr. Huacuja stated <br />there would be twenty units; each unit containing <br />approximately 1120 sq. ft.; would be home owner- <br />ship and would meet F.H.A. and local housing code <br />requirements. <br />Mr. Joe Mola.na, Architect, presented drawings of <br />the proposed townhouses. <br />No objections to the proposed re-zoning were rendered. <br />Mayor Smith asked if there were any further comments, <br />and there being none, declared the hearing closed. <br />Recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Commission <br />was to re-zone Block 64, Lots 17 thru 32 from R-2 <br />Residential to Townhouse use. <br />Motion by Comm. Thomas, seconded by Comm. Kibodeaux <br />authorizing the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance <br />to re-zone Block 64, Lots 17 thru 32 from R-2 Res- <br />idential to Townhouse use. Motion carried by the <br />following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Thomas, Kibodeaux, Burgin <br />and Crofoot. <br />NAYS: None. <br />+ + + <br />3. Dr. Gordon Burdick addressed the Commission in <br />regards to the annexation proceedings under con- <br />sideration. Dr. Burdick asked the Commission <br />to delay this matter until such time as a study <br />can be made on the double taxation. <br />Dr. Burdick also asked the Commission to consider <br />appointing a committee to study the community+e <br />social problems. <br />o~ <br />+ + + <br />
