<br />• MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />LA PORTS CITY COMMISSION, LA PORTS, TEXAS <br />APRIL 5, 1971 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION PRESENT: Mayor H. Carlos Smith, <br />Commissioners E. A. Thomas, I. J. Kibodeaux and Bobby J. <br />Burgin. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: Commissioner H. Gould Crofoot. <br />OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: P. V. Werner, City Administrator; <br />Virginia Cline, City Clerk; Knox Askins, City Attorney; <br />Robert Cline, Director of Public Works and H. F. Freeman, <br />Chief of Police. <br />• PRESIDING: Mayor Smith. <br />+ + + <br />Invocation was offered by Commissioner Burgin. <br />1. Motion by Comm. Burgin, seconded by Comm. Thomas <br />to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of <br />March 15, 1971 as approved. Motion carried by <br />the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Thomas, Kibodeaux and Burgin. <br />NAYS: None. <br />ABSENT: Commissioner Crofoot. <br />+ + + <br />2. Mr. Uel Price addressed the Commission and expressed <br />his thanks to everyone that voted for him in the <br />election. Mr. Price stated he was not bitter about <br />losing the election, but he was disappointed in the <br />voter turnout, especially from the Fairmont Park <br />area. He commended his opponent, "Hap" Sampson on <br />winning the election and stated he hoped more young <br />people of Mr. Sampson's caliber would take an interest <br />• in civic affairs. <br />+ + + <br />
