Thomas, seconded by Comm. Sampson <br />to accept Mayor Smith's recommendation to dispense <br />with the special audit. Motion carried by the <br />following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Thomas, Kibodeaux, Sampson <br />and Crofoot. <br />NAYS: None. <br />+ + + <br />3. Judge Williamson administered the oath of office to <br />Mayor Elect E. A. Thomas and then to Commissioners <br />Elect I. J. Kibodeaux and Charlie Doug Boyle. <br />Certificates of election were presented to each of <br />the newly elected officials. <br />• Mayor Thomas presented certificates of appreciation <br />to Mr. Smith and Mr. Crofoot. <br />+ + + <br />4. Mayor Thomas stated he would like for the City Attorney <br />to explain when the newly elected officials take the <br />oath of office and the proceedure for filling a <br />vacancy on the Commission. <br />Mr. Askins read Section 15 of the Charter, explaining <br />how a vacancy is filled and then Section 21 explaining <br />when the newly-elected members qualify and assume the <br />duties of office. <br />Mayor Thomas and members of the Commission expressed <br />their thanks and appreciation to the many visitors <br />present and Mayor Thomas stated there would be a <br />reception in the meeting room of the fire station <br />immediately following the adjournment of the meeting. <br /> <br />• + + + <br />
