Regular ~ting 5/23/73 - continued. <br />This letter was in regard to routes for heavy traffic <br />• from SH 146 to Barbours Cut, and it's effect on La Porte. <br />Commissioner Bass stated that he feels that the Port <br />Authority should bear a substantial portion of the <br />cost of preparing for and dealing with the heavy traffic <br />which the Port expansion will produce. <br />A letter to Wolfe Engineering Co. from Jas. P. Hutcheson, <br />Vice President of Busch, Hutcheson and Associates, Inc., <br />with a copy to Mayor Thomas, was read. Mr. Hutcheson <br />stated that he had inspected the tennis court slab at <br />Central Park in La Porte and that he found it unacceptable <br />in it's present form, and asking then to let him know <br />their proposed method of correcting the deficiencies. <br />+ + + <br /> <br />9. Mayor Thomas asked for an Executive Session at this Executive <br />time for the Commission to consider the adoption Session <br />of Ordinance No. 957• Requested <br />The meeting recessed at 8:10 P. M. <br />The Regular meeting of the City Commission of the <br />City of La Porte re-convened at 8:35 P. M. with <br />all members present. <br />:~ <br />Motion by Commissioner Christensen, seconded by Ordinance <br />Commissioner Price, to adopt Ordinance No. 957 hiring <br />as read. Motion carried by the following vote: Sears & <br />Burns, <br />AYES: Commissioners Christensen, Kibodeaux, Attorneys <br />Price and Boyle. <br />NAYS: None. <br />Mayor Thomas stated that he wished to vote AYE <br />~o that it would be unanimous. <br />CAPTION: <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND APP'~OVING THE <br />EMPLOYMENT OF SEARS AND BURNS, ATTORNEYS, TO <br />REPRESENT THE' CITY OF LA PORTS IN CONNECTION <br />WITH THE RAIL YARD PLANS OF THE SOUTHERN <br />PACIFIC COMPANY; ESTABLISHING A FEE FOR SUCH <br />SERVICES AND MAKING AN .~~PPROPRIATION FOR THE <br />PAYMENT THEREOF; MAKING FINDINGS OF FACT; <br />PROVIDING FOR THE MANNER OF ACCEPTANCE OF THIS <br />ORDINANCE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />+ + + <br />• <br />
