Kibodeaux, seconded by Comm. <br />Boyle to adopt Ordinance No. 973 as read. <br />Motion carried by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Kibodeaux, Price and Boyle. <br />NAYS: None. <br />ABSENT: Commissioner Christensen. <br />CAPTION: <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 20 OF THE CODE <br />OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; PRO- <br />HIBITING THE OBSTRUCTING OF RAILROAD STREET <br />CROSSINGS FOR MORE THAN FIVE MINUTES AT ONE <br />TIME; PROVIDING FOR REPORTS OF OBSTRUCTED <br />CROSSINGS; PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING <br />THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED <br />GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION <br />SHALL BE FINED IN ANY SUM NOT MORE THAN TWO <br />HUNDRED DOLLARS($200.00); AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Ord. Mayor Thomas stated under the present ordinance <br />anyone making application for a house demolishing <br />permit had to be bonded for $1,000 and the insurance <br />companies would no longer write a bond for this <br />amount and it was up to the Commission to make <br />some other provisions. <br />After a brief discussion the Commission agreed <br />that an application for a demolishing permit <br />should require a $250 cash bond. <br />Motion by Comm. Kibodeaux, seconded by Comm. <br />Price that the City Attorney be instructed <br />to prepare an ordinance requiring a $250 cash <br />bond be filed with an application for a <br />demolishing permit for passage at the next <br />Approval for <br />City Attorney <br />to prepare Ord. <br />requiring $250 <br />cash bond for <br />demolishing <br />permit <br />
