Mayor Thomas stated he had talked with officials Mayor reports <br />of the State Welfare Office in regards to their on removing <br />moving the local office out of La Porte and had Welfare offic= <br />pointed out to them the need for the office to from La Porte <br />remain in La Porte and had also told them of <br />the need for a food stamp office here. <br />Comm. Christensen stated the building in which Rental of bld= <br />the local offices are located and for which to house <br />the City pays the rent, is badly in need of Welfare Offic= <br />repair and since the owner will not repair discussed <br />the building the City needs to find suitable <br />office space. He stated the building across <br />the street from City Hall is available for <br />the same amount of rent with a one year lease. <br />Motion by Comm. Christensen, seconded by Comm. Apprvoal to <br />Price that Mr. Baker be given a thirty day rent bldg. & <br />notice of vacating and that the City rent the move Welfare <br />building across the street from City Hall from Office <br />Boyle Realty and move the Welfare Office around <br />March 1, 1974. Motion carried by the following <br />• vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Christensen, Kibodeaux, <br />Price and Boyle. <br />NAYS: None. <br />+ + + <br />16. Discussion was held on Mr. George Sharp, Jr., <br />having been previously notified of his house <br />being in street right-of-way and the fact <br />that Mr. Sharp has not entered into an agree- <br />ment releasing the City from responsibilites <br />of any damages that might occur from his house <br />being in the right-of-way. <br />Motion by Comm. Christensen, seconded by Comm. <br />Price for the City Attorney to contact Mr. <br />Sharp before the next regular meeting of <br />February 21, 1974 in regards to his intentions <br />on signing a release and if he will not sign <br />the release, inform Mr. Sharp that further <br />action will be taken. Motion carried by the <br />Geo.Sharp,Jr. <br />given final <br />notice to <br />acknowledge <br />letter from <br />city, re: <br />house in r-c <br />• <br />
