Mayor Thomas read a letter to be sent to County Judge Bill Elliott and the Commission- ers Court endorsing the La Porte Bayshore Chamber of Commerce's endeavor to get some- one from La Porte or the Bay Area appointed to the Port of Houston Authority Commission. Motion by Comm. Price, seconded by Comm. Kibodeaux to approve Mayor Thomas sending the letter to the County Judge and Comm- issioners Court. Motion carried by the following vote: AYES: Commissioners Christensen, Kibodeaux, Price and Boyle. NAYS: None. + + + • 15. Mayor Thomas stated that he, Comm. Christensen amd Comm. Kibodeaux had been out of Fairmont Park and inspected the sidewalk being replaced in the ten thousand block of Cattlett Lane. He stated a portion of the sidewalk was sub-standard and would have to be replaced. Mayor Thomas stated he had talked with Mr. McKey and Mr. Busch about the sidewalk and Mr. McKey said he would do whatever can be done within reason to correct it. Approval of Mayor's letter to County Judge & Comm. Court,re: appointment t~ Port Commiss~~~ Fairmont Park sidewalks inspected by Mayor & 2 C~- Mr. Busch stated the sidewalk was not acceptable in the present form and suggested that the Mayor and Comm. Price meet with Mr. McKey and himself to inspect the sidewalk. It was agreed that they would meet on Thursday, May 9th to do the inspection. + + + • 16. Comm. Kibodeaux stated there were rumors that he had been adjusting water bills without the Comm- ission being notified. He stated this was not true, that he had talked to other members of the Commission before taking any action and that if the employees in City Hall didn't have anything else to do but start rumors, he could find some thing for them to do.
