Motion <br />carried by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Christensen and Kibodeaux. <br />NAYS: Commissioners Boyle and Price. <br />Mayor Thomas broke the tie by voting AYE. <br />Motion by Commissioner Boyle, seconded by Commissioner <br />Price, to allow Mrs. Virginia Cline to attend the next <br />Commission meeting and give her a public hearing. <br />Motion failed by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Boyle and Price. <br />NAYS: Commissioners Kibodeaux and Christensen. <br />The Mayor broke the tie by voting NAY. <br />Mayor Thomas read a letter from Knox Askins which con- <br />tained a legal opinion dealing with a section of the <br />City Charter in regard to a discharged City employee. <br />• Ordinance No. 991 was read by Mayor Thomas, which <br />appoints Mrs. Ruth Huddleston as Acting City Clerk. <br />Motion by Commissioner Christensen, seconded by <br />Commissioner Kibodeaux, to adopt Ordinance No. 991 <br />as read. Motion carried by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Christensen and Kibodeaux. <br />NAYS: Commissioners Boyle and Price. <br />Mayor Thomas broke the tie by voting AYE. <br />CAPTION: <br />AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING AN ACTING CITY CLERK FOR THE <br />TERM May 1, 1974, UNTIL APRIL 30, 1976, OR UNTIL THE <br />FURTHER APPOINTMENT OF A CITY CLERK FOR SAID TERM OF <br />OFFICE: AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Mrs. Virginia Cline who was in the audience, asked if <br />she could address the Commission. She requested a <br />reason for her dismissal, and was told that they did <br />not have to give her a reason. <br />Motion by Commissioner Kibodeaux, seconded by Commissioner <br />Christensen that the meeting adjourn.
