Pruitt, Fire Mars a Harris County, 1001 69th Street, Houston, Texas, concerning the City-County agreement regarding rural fire protection. It was stated that the agreement could not be entered into as presented to the City of La Porte. A copy attached and made a part of these minutes. Mayor Thomas stated that he had talked with a State Representative Saturday and he stated that there would be some hearings in this area. The City must stay abreast of this or the Gulf Coast Waste Disposal Authority will try and take over all the smaller municipalities in this area. • (D) Mayor Thomas read a letter from H. Carlos Smith, requesting at least two street lights to be installed on South Brownell. The only street lights in a five block area are at East Main and East "E". There are twenty or more homes in this area, each having several children; an accident could occur very easily. Mayor Thomas asked Commissioner Price if he had any recommendation regarding these street lights. Commissioner Price stated that he had only received the letter and could not give a recommendation at this time. Commissioner Price stated that he had another request for a street light at North Broadway and Madison. He further stated that he would check the requests and would have a recommendation at the next meeting. + + + 15. CONDITION OF WATER SUPPLY - Mayor Thomas stated that Mr. Busch had been authorized to make a survey of the City's water supply. •
