VISITORS WISHING TO ADDRESS THE COMMISSION - Mayor Thomas <br />asked if the meeting had been posted according to law. <br />The Assistant City Clerk affirmed. <br />A. MR. CARL LYONS - 1914 CRESCENT DRIVE - Mr. Lyons was <br />recognized and addressed the Commission regarding acts <br />of mischief and destruction by residents of Vista Baywood <br />Apartments to homes in the area. <br />After lengthy discussion, Mayor Thomas asked Chief Freeman <br />and Commissioner Boyle to arrange a meeting between the <br />owners and managers of Vista Baywood, residents of the <br />surrounding area, and the La Porte City Commission to <br />discuss the problems and try to work out a solution to <br />this problem. <br />B. MR. WILLARD JENNINGS - MAINLAND TIRE, 621 MAIN ST. - <br />Mr. Jennings was recognized and addressed the Commission <br />requesting a variance to City Ordinance 811, the Mobile <br />Home Ordinance. Mr. Jennings asked that he be allowed <br />to put a mobile home behind the store as a security <br />measure. <br />• A letter of request was presented to Mayor Thomas, a copy <br />of which is attached and made a part of these minutes. <br />C. MR. FRANK DRISKILL - 10303 OLD ORCHARD - Mr. Driskill <br />was recognized and then introduced Mr. Al Pena, Baseball <br />Commissioner, 920 S. Utah. Mr. Pena discussed plans by <br />Harris County for leasing land with an option to buy to <br />build a ball park and other recreational facilities. He <br />stated the County would buy the land, build the parks, <br />and would ask the City of La Porte to provide payment <br />of the light bill. <br />Mayor Thomas welcomed the visitors and invited them back <br />at any time. <br />+ + + <br />9. AWARD BID - MOBILE RADIO FOR RESCUE TRUCK - Motion was <br />made by Commissioner Boyle, seconded by Commissioner <br />Cline to accept bid of Motorola Communications and <br />Electronics in the amount of $1,233.00 for a mobile radio <br />for the rescue truck. Motion carried by the following <br />vote: <br />• <br />
