JOINT PUBLIC HEARING WITH PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br />TO CONSIDER REZONING LOT 10, BLOCK 3, CRESCENT SHORES FROM <br />RESIDENTIAL TO "C" APARTMENT AND COMMERCIAL DISTRICT FOR <br />APARTMENTS ONLY - The Joint Public Hearing was opened. Mayor <br />Pro -Tem Kibodeaux asked if there was anyone desiring to speak <br />in favor of the rezoning? <br />MR. CECIL OVERSTREET - 219 Edgewood Drive - Mr. Overstreet <br />stated that Mr. Terry had a son that he wanted to help and <br />was of the opinion that the City should rezone the property <br />to allow the apartment to be built. <br />MR. ROBERT TERRY - 202 HOWALD - Mr. Terry stated that the <br />rezoning was requested to build a special apartment unit <br />because his son was a paraplegic and needed special facilities. <br />He was interested in making a multi -unit so that would be some <br />income for his son. <br />MR. SAM GOYEN - 2003 CRESCENT SHORES - Mr. Goyen had no <br />objections to the rezoning, if it was for only the one lot <br />and only for apartment use, rather than other commercial <br />uses. <br />• Mayor Pro -Tem Kibodeaux asked if there was anyone desiring <br />to speak in opposition to the rezoning? <br />MR. WAYNE WILLIAMSON - 2006 CRESCENT SHORES - Mr. Williamson <br />opposed the rezoning because it would devalue his property. <br />MR. ARMIS YOUNG - 115 CRESCENT SHORES - Mr. Young opposed <br />apartments in general. <br />MS.'NELCEEN MC GEE - 114 HOWALD - Ms. McGee had no objections <br />if the apartment was for the Terry son only. <br />The Joint Public Hearing recessed. <br />The Joint Public Hearing reconvened. <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission presented the recommendation <br />to rezone Lot 10, Block 3, Cresent Shores with the following <br />restriction: Said property shall be used for either a single <br />family residence or a two family apartment unit or townhouse <br />only. A copy of said recommendation is attached and made a <br />part of these minutes. <br />The public hearing was declared closed. <br />
