CONSIDER HIRING PARKS & RECREATION DIRECTOR - Motion by <br />Commissioner Love, seconded by Commissioner Kibodeaux to <br />offer the position of Parks & Recreation Director to <br />Mr. L. duPont Miller. Motion carried by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Love, Kibodeaux, and Simons. <br />NAYS: None. <br />+ + + <br />19. CORRESPONDENCE - The following correspondence was read: <br />A. Letter from Kathy Kling, Secretary, La Porte Girl's <br />Softball Association, requesting the use of ball fields <br />for seven days a week from March 15 thru July 15 during <br />the 1977 season. A copy is attached and made a part of <br />these minutes. <br />B. Letter from Boyle Realty, making formal offer of <br />sale of Block No. 165, Town of La Porte; portion of <br />• Block No. 166; for Commissioners consideration for new <br />City Hall. A copy of the letter is attached and made a <br />part of these minutes. <br />+ + + <br />20. DISCUSSION OF DEPARTMENT PROJECTS - The Director of <br />Public Works read a notice of hearing from Texas Water <br />Quality Board to be held September 30, 1976, at 1:00 P.M., <br />at 3701 W. Alabama, Houston, Texas, and stated some of <br />the Commission might wish to attend. <br />The Director of Public Works requested consideration by <br />the Commission regarding changing the standards of concrete <br />pipe to corrugated coated metal pipe for culverts. <br />A final inspection of the 16th Street Water Line will be <br />made at 11:00 A.M., on September 24th, if any of the officials <br />are free and able to attend. <br />Further discussion followed regarding the need for chain link <br />fence to place junked automobiles in the disposal plant area. <br />There will be additional discussion at the work shop. <br />• <br />+ + + <br />
