• <br />• <br />Regular Meeting 12/6/76 <br />6 <br />15. CORRESPONDENCE - (A) A letter from Tom Bass, dated November 24, <br />1976, regarding a traffic study of Spencer at Farrington; <br />resurfacing Spencer at Underwood; routine road maintenance; <br />Flood Control ditch problems. A copy of said letter is attached <br />and made a part of these minutes. <br />(B) An invitation to Harris County Mayors & Councilmen's <br />Association December meeting. <br />(C) A letter from Bayport Aviation, Inc., successor to Hou- <br />Port Aviation, expressing desire to exercise option to leases <br />at the La Porte Municipal Airport. A copy of said letter is <br />attached and made a part of these minutes. <br />+ + + <br />• <br />16. DISCUSSION OF DEPARTMENT PROJECTS - Commissioner Love informed <br />the audience that the City had hired a Parks and Recreation <br />Director, Mr. Stanley Sherwood, and would be moving his office <br />to the Civic Center by the first of the year. <br />MEETING WITH BAY MUD REGARDING EMERGENCY SERVICE - Commissioner <br />Cline reported to the Commission. on a meeting she and representa- <br />tives of Busch, Hutchison with Bay Mud about hooking on to <br />La Porte's water system for emergency service; and further <br />explained that due to the pending annexation, services would <br />probably be coming across Spur 501. The City might expect <br />to be contacted by Bay Mud in the future. <br />There was a brief discussion regarding possible grant funds <br />available through Criminal Justice for municipal buildings; <br />the need for road work on "Y" Street, Nugent and 11th Streets; <br />and the problem existing on 1st Street behind the First Baptist <br />Church caused by accumulated water. It might help the situation <br />if the church would put drain spouts on their buildings. <br />• <br /> <br />17. ADJOURNMENT - Motion by <br />Commissioner Simons that <br />by the following vote: <br />+ + <br />Commissioner Cline, seconded by <br />the meeting adjourn. Motion carried <br />AYES: Commissioners Love, Kibodeaux, Cline, and Simons. <br />NAYS: None. <br />
