Diergelr <br />After .the consummation of such consolidation, all record books, <br />public property,' money on hand, credits, accounts and all other assets <br />of the smaller of the annexed cities shall be turned over to the officers <br />of the larger city, who shall be retained in office as the officials of the <br />consolidated city during the remainder of their respective terms, and <br />by such consolidation the offices existing in the smaller municipality <br />shall be abolished and declared vacant, and the persons holding such <br />offices shall not be entitled after the consummation- of such consolida- <br />tion, to further remuneration or compensation. All outstanding lia- <br />bilities of the two cities so consolidated shall be assumed by the con- <br />solidated city... Whenever at the time of any such consolidation the <br />respective cities shall have on hand any bond funds voted for public <br />improvements not already appropriated or contracted for, such money <br />shall. be kept in a separate fund and devoted to public improvements <br />in the territory for which such bonds were voted, and shall not be <br />diverted to any other purpose. Damages incurred before consolidation <br />Under the act consolidating the city of <br />East Dallas with the- city of Dallas, and <br />i <br />providing that the latter should pay all <br />lawful debts of the former, the city oP <br />Dallas was liable for damages to plain- <br />tifP's land caused by the wrongful digging <br />of a ditch through it by the city of East <br />Dallas.
