• Regular Meeting 4/3/78 <br />25. CORRESPONDENCE - Mayor Meza read a letter from the Texas <br />Department of Community Affairs, regarding federal funds <br />for assistance to local governments in strengthening their <br />personnel systems and functions. A copy of said letter is <br />attached and made a part of these minutes. <br />26. DISCUSSION OF DEPARTMENT PROJECTS - Mayor Meza stated that <br />he would like an executive session with the Fire Prevention <br />Department. <br />Commissioner Cline introduced the new Public Works Director, <br />Mr. Gerard Nutting. <br />10 <br />Commissioner Simons informed the Commission that an outstanding <br />citizens award, the Thomas Jefferson Award, had been awarded to <br />Mrs. Eugenia Riley. <br />The Parks & Recreation Director requested an executive session. <br />• The Attorney requested an executive session. <br />27. MRS. EUGENIA RILEY was recognized and asked the status of the <br />Charter Revision, further stating that she would like to be <br />informed of their meetings. A meeting was scheduled for <br />April 11, 1978, at 7:00 P.M. <br />28. EXECUTIVE SESSION - V.A.T.S. - ARTICLE 6252-17 - SECTION 2 - <br />(E) AND (G) - (LITIGATION AND PERSONNEL) - Motion by Commissioner <br />Kibodeaux, seconded by Commissioner Tomerlin that the meeting <br />recess for an executive session. Motion carried by the following <br />vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, Cline, and Simons. <br />NAYS: None. <br />• The meeting recessed at 7:59 P.M. <br />The meeting reconvened at 9:49 P.M. <br />
