Holmes, Mayor and the City ncil CITY OF SHOREACRE 619 Shoreacres Boulev d La Porte, Texas 77571 Re: No. 1,149,395; State of Texas vs. City of Shoreacres and Bayshore Municipal Utility District; in the llth Judicial District Court of Harris County, Texas Dear Mayor Holmes and City Councilmen: Your letter of October 10, 1978, addressed to the undersigned, enclosing a copy of City of Shoreacres Resolution No. 196, has been carefully reviewed by the La Porte City Commission, which, • following our joint meeting today, has authorized this reply by its attached resolution. The La Porte City Commission agrees with the conclusion of the Special Master's Report, filed in the State of Texas-Shoreacres- BMUD litigation, to the effect that the sewage treatment needs of Shoreacres and BMUD could best be served by transferring their wastewater to the City of La Porte's central plant, for treat- ment, and discharge of the treated effluent into Galveston Bay, thus eliminating the present Shoreacres-BMUD discharge into the Clear Lake watershed. It has been the consistent position of the La Porte City Commission that the most economical and efficient means of accomplishing this result, would be inclusion of BMUD and Shoreacres within the cor- porate boundaries of the City of La Porte, by means of La Porte's annexation of BMUD, and the consolidation of the cities of Shoreacres and La Porte. By so doing, the residents of Shoreacres and BMUD will have the opportunity to share in the long-range planning, engineering, and financing of the expansion of the City of La Porte's central treatment facilities, so that such facilities may handle the wastewater treatment needs of the entire La Porte-Bayshore Area in a cost-efficient manner, with minimal environmental impact.
