• <br />• Regular Meeting 7/18/79 4 <br />CAPTION: AN ORDINANCE-DECLARING THE BUILDING LOCATED ON LOTS <br />THIRTY-FOUR (34) AND THIRTY-FIVE (35), BLOCK SIXTY-EIGHT (68), <br />BAYFRONT ADDITION, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS, TO BE IN FACT A NUISANCE; <br />ORDERING SUCH BUILDING CONDEMNED; FINDING THAT DANIEL BURNS IS <br />THE RECORD OWNER OF SAID PROPERTY; ORDERING THE SAID OWNER TO <br />ENTIRELY REMOVE DR TEAR DOWN SUCH BUILDING;ORDERING THE SAID <br />OWNER TO COMMENCE SAID REMOVAL OR DEMOLITION WITHIN TEN (10) <br />DAYS FROM THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE ORDERING THE <br />FIRE CHIEF TO PLACE A NOTICE ON SAID BUILDING; ORDERING THE CITY <br />CLERK TO FORWARD A COPY OF THIS ORDINANCE TO SAID OWNER; PROVIDING <br />FOR THE REMOVAL OF SAID PREMISES BY THE CITY OF LA PORTE IF NOT <br />REMOVED BY SAID OWNER; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />+ + + <br />5. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS - A. Need for roof repairs at Fire Station <br />No. 1 - The Administrator informed the Commission of an estimate <br />to repair the roof of the No. 1 Fire Station, received from <br />Davis Brothers, in the amount of $3,699.00. <br />• After a discussion regarding the possible .need to put a new roof <br />on the No. 1 Fire Station, motion by Commissioner Simons, seconded <br />by Commissioner Tomerlin to authorize advertising for bids. Motion <br />carried by .the following vote: <br />AYES: .Commissioners Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, Cline, and Simons. <br />NAYS: None. <br />B. The Administrator requested an executive session to discuss <br />contractural matters. <br />+ + + <br />6. COUNCIL ACTION - Commissioner Tomerlin expressed appreciation <br />for the help with the pool. <br />Commissioner Cline reported on a trip to Austin for a one-day <br />seminar on the Peveto Bill attended by the Administrator, the <br />Tax Assessor-Collector and herself. She further stated that the <br />seminar was of benefit, but there was much disagreement on how <br />the bill will work. However, it is law and it has to be implemented. <br />The State will finance the tax committee made up representatives <br />• from the different entities, for the first two years. Did not see <br />where the Peveto Bill was tax reform. <br />
