<br />REGULAR MEETING~5/7/80 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />8 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />CATED ON THE EAST ONE-HALF (E~) OF LOT 15, ALL OF LOT 18, <br />AND THE WEST ONE-HALF (W~) OF LOT 19, BLOCK 57, TOWN OF LA <br />PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS, TO BE IN FACT A NUISANCE; OR- <br />DERING SUCH BUILDING CONDEMNED; FINDING THAT THE ESTATE nF <br />W.V. SULLIVAN, C/O THOMAS H. SULLIVAN, TRUSTEE, IS THE RE- <br />CORD OWNER OF SAID PROPERTY; ORDERING THE SAID OWNER TO EN- <br />TIRELY REMOVE OR TEAR DOWN SUCH BUILDING; ORDERING THE SAID <br />OWNER TO COMMENCE SAID REMOVAL OR DEMOLITION WITHIN TEN (10) <br />DAYS FROM THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE; ORDERING THE <br />FIRE CHIEF TO PLACE A NOTICE ON SAID BUILDING; ORDERING THE <br />CITY CLERK TO FORWARD A COpy OF THIS ORDINANCE TO SAID OWN- <br />ER; PROVIDING FOR REMOVAL OF SAID PREMISES BY THE CITY OF <br />LA PORTE IF NOT REMOVED BY SAID OWNER; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF, was read by the City Attorney. A <br />motion was made by Commissioner Cline to adopt Ordinance No. <br />1215 as read, seconded by Commissioner Simons, motion carried <br />4-ayes - O-nays. <br /> <br />AYES: Commissioners Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, Cline, and Simons <br />NAYS: None <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />12. RESOLUTION NO. 80-4, OPPOSING HAZARDOUS LAND FILL IN THE IN- <br />DUSTRIAL DISTRICT, was read by the City Attorney. A motion <br />was made by Commissioner Simons to adopt Resolution No. 80-4 <br />as read and to investigate costs for hiring or retaining a <br />qualified person to investigate this threat to our environ- <br />mental well being and file a protest with the Texas Water <br />Resources. Commissioner Simons futher stated the City Ad- <br />ministrator should check out costs for this project and poll <br />the Commissioners. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Kibo- <br />deaux, motion carried 4-ayes - O-nays. <br /> <br />AYES: <br />NAYS; <br /> <br />Commissioners Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, Cline, and Simons <br />None <br /> <br />13. Mrs. Helen McFerrin, 925 Oak Grove, appeared before the City <br />Commission concerning vacant lots at the end of her street. <br />After hearing Mrs. McFerrin's complaint Commissioner Kibo- <br />deaux expressed a desire to see this matter cleared up. <br />MAYOR MEZA DIRECTED THIS ~~TTER TO BE TURNED OVER TO PUBLIC <br />WORKS AND WHATEVER HAS TO BE DONE TO CLEAR THE PROPERTY ON <br />BOTH SIDES OF MRS. MCFERRIN SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF AS SOON <br />AS REASONABLY POSSIBLE. Mrs. McFerrin thanked the Commission <br />for their interest and assistance. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 80-5,A RESOLUTION COMMENDING BOB MCLAUGHLIN FOR <br />HIS SERVICES TO THE CITY OF LA PORTE AS FIRE MARSHAL, was <br />read by the City Attorney, motion to adopt by Commissioner <br />Kibodeaux, seconded by Commissioner Simons, motion carried <br />4-ayes - O-nays. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />AYES: Commissioners Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, Cline, and Simons <br />NAYS: None <br />
