• <br />rw NWIVIN <br />TO: Jim Hudgens, City Manager <br />FROM: Jerry Hodge, Director of Public Works <br />DATE: September 10, 1980 <br />SUBJECT: Fairmont Park Water.Well #2 <br />With reference to the attached letter from Layne Texas <br />Company, I recommend that we schedule the work for well # 2. <br />It is inoperable because of sand production. <br />Layne Texas Company was the original driller of the well <br />and I recommend that we issue a work order to them on an emer- <br />gency basis so they can place the job on their work schedule. <br />Their letter states that they have a two week back log, but <br />• in talking with them I have found out that the back log is <br />greater than two weeks. <br />I feel that the work in well #2 is necessary in order to <br />meet the water demand of Fairmont Park. I do not think that <br />well #1 would be adequate for an extended period of time. <br />Well #2 is the high production well. It pumps 1500 gallons <br />per minute whereas well #1 pumps only 700 gallons per minute. <br />Since the work will be scheduled after October 1, 1980, <br />I suggest that it be charged to the appropriations for the <br />1980-81 budget.
