U <br />n <br />U <br />• Minutes, Joint Public Hearing and Regular Meeting <br />March 18, 1981, Page 2 <br />4. <br />5. <br />• 6. <br /> <br />Mr. Byron Forty, owner of two lots in Block 1219 and a <br />resident of Houston, Texas, addressed the Public Hearing, <br />stating he had owned this property for over 60 years and was <br />in favor of the rezoning. <br />There being no further input from those present into the public <br />hearing, Mayor Meza asked for a recommendation from the Plan- <br />ning & Zoning Commission. <br />Chairperson Pat Muston advised Council it was the recommenda- <br />tion of Planning & Zoning to rezone the property from Little <br />Cedar Bayou to McCabe Road, 266 feet wide from R-1 to Commercial <br />zoning since most of the property is presently being used for <br />commercial purposes. <br />Mayor Meza declared the Joint Public Hearing adjourned at <br />7:18 P.M. <br />Mayor Meza called to order the regular meeting of the La Porte <br />City Council. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Tomerlin to approve and <br />the minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 4, 1981, <br />Special Called Meeting of March 5, 1981 as presented. <br />by Councilman Simons. The motion carried, 4 ayes and <br />Ayes: Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, Cline, Simons <br />Nays: None <br />Seconded <br />0 nays. <br />7. City Attorney Askins read Ordinance No. 780 III: AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 780, THE CITY OF LA PORTE ZONING ORDI- <br />NANCE, BY CHANGING THE CLASSIFICATION OF THAT CERTAIN PARCEL <br />OF LAND HEREIN DESCRIBED; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Simons to approve and adopt <br />Ordinance No. 780 III as read by the City Attorney, rezoning <br />that certain strip 266 feet wide and extending from Little <br />Cedar Bayou to McCabe Road from R-1 classification to Commer- <br />cial. Seconded by Councilwoman Cline. The motion carried, <br />4 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, Cline, Simons <br />Nays: None <br />8. Council considered the recommendation of Hodge and Joerns in <br />awarding the "Water Tank Cleaning and Painting" contract. <br />Five (5) bids were received (those bids are a part of these <br />minutes).
