The sub- <br />ject property is located on the grounds of the existing <br />facility, and is presently used as a park area. <br /> <br />Planning and Zoning feels there is a need for such a <br />facility in the La Porte area, and we have been told the public <br />utilities are adequate. At present, the property is zoned R-l, <br />but in order to accommodate an apartment complex, the zoning <br />would need to be changed to C-Commercial and Apartment. <br /> <br />Planning and Zoning requests a public hearing to consider <br />such zoning change. Our preliminary recommendation is to grant <br />the zoning change with a special provision that it be limited <br />to the specific request for 51 apartment units as defined in <br />the attached letter from Mr. H.
