• • Minutes, Special Emergency Meeting April 29, 1981, Page 2 After receiving the oath of office Councilperson Skelton was seated at the Council table. 5. Mayor Meza recognized Mrs. Janie Jackson who addressed the Council concerning a proposed Council Training Retreat. Mrs. Jackson stated her views in opposition to the retreat. Mr. Ed Matuzak stood and addressed the Council concerning his feeling in opposition to the retreat. Mr. Al Miller also spoke concerning his feeling on the proposed retreat. 6. Administrative Reports: City Manager Hudgens requested a brief executive session to discuss a contractual matter. 7. Council action: Councilpersons extended their warmest welcome to the newly elected members of the Council. Councilperson Skelton made a brief statement thanking the voters in District 5 for their • confidence in him and pledging his every effort in their well being. Mayor Meza entertained a motion to adjourn session. Motion was made by Councilperson by Councilperson Westergren to adjourn for session. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, longley, Kib~ Skelton, Westergren. Nays: None to an executive Kibodeaux,. seconded a brief executive nays. ~deaux, Simons, Gay, Council adjourned to executive session at 5:25 P.M. Council returned to the council table at 6:30 P.M. Mayor Meza advised that the Texas Department of Human Resources is in need of a place to open offices and City Manager Hudgens has recommended they be housed in the former Lomax City Hall. Mayor Meza polled the Councilpersons for their feelings in the matter, Councilpersons present were all in complete agreement to house the Texas Department of Human .Resources at 1508 Lomax School Road. There being no further business to be brought before the Council, motion was made by Councilperson Kibodeaux to adjourn the meet- . ing. Seconded by Councilperson Westergren. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays.
