• <br />• Minutes, Special Emergency Meeting <br />April 29, 1981, Page 2 <br />After receiving the oath of office Councilperson Skelton <br />was seated at the Council table. <br />5. Mayor Meza recognized Mrs. Janie Jackson who addressed the <br />Council concerning a proposed Council Training Retreat. Mrs. <br />Jackson stated her views in opposition to the retreat. <br />Mr. Ed Matuzak stood and addressed the Council concerning his <br />feeling in opposition to the retreat. <br />Mr. Al Miller also spoke concerning his feeling on the proposed <br />retreat. <br />6. Administrative Reports: <br />City Manager Hudgens requested a brief executive session to <br />discuss a contractual matter. <br />7. Council action: <br />Councilpersons extended their warmest welcome to the newly <br />elected members of the Council. Councilperson Skelton made a <br />brief statement thanking the voters in District 5 for their <br />• confidence in him and pledging his every effort in their well <br />being. <br />Mayor Meza entertained a motion to adjourn <br />session. Motion was made by Councilperson <br />by Councilperson Westergren to adjourn for <br />session. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, longley, Kib~ <br />Skelton, Westergren. <br />Nays: None <br />to an executive <br />Kibodeaux,. seconded <br />a brief executive <br />nays. <br />~deaux, Simons, Gay, <br />Council adjourned to executive session at 5:25 P.M. <br />Council returned to the council table at 6:30 P.M. <br />Mayor Meza advised that the Texas Department of Human Resources <br />is in need of a place to open offices and City Manager Hudgens <br />has recommended they be housed in the former Lomax City Hall. <br />Mayor Meza polled the Councilpersons for their feelings in the <br />matter, Councilpersons present were all in complete agreement <br />to house the Texas Department of Human .Resources at 1508 Lomax <br />School Road. <br />There being no further business to be brought before the Council, <br />motion was made by Councilperson Kibodeaux to adjourn the meet- <br />. ing. Seconded by Councilperson Westergren. The motion carried, <br />7 ayes and 0 nays. <br />
