<br />• Minutes, Joint Public Hearing and Regular Meeting <br />June 3, 1981, Page 16 <br />Councilperson Skelton asked that other members of the Council <br />join him in a tour of the City's streets. He felt this was <br />the only way a priority can be set for the paving program. <br />Mayor Meza asked that after the tour, Skelton make a report <br />back to him on his findings. <br />City Attorney Askins informed Council of some of the legis- <br />lation passed during the last days of the legislature. The <br />La Porte/Lomax Consolidation was validated, as was the elec- <br />tion delayed by Hurricane Allen concerning the Amendment of <br />the La Porte Home Rule Charter. Another very important issue <br />passed by the Legislature was the La Porte Area Water Authority. <br />Mayor Meza stated the Council attended the 16th Institute for <br />Mayors and Councilpersons held in Lubbock, Texas, and found <br />it very informative. <br />Council adjourned into executive session at 9:25 P.M. <br />Council returned to the Council table at 10:37 P.M. <br />• Motion to adjourn was made by Councilperson Kibodeaux. Sec- <br />onded by Councilperson Gay. Meza, Mayor <br />Correction to the minutes: <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Malone to approve change <br />order No. 3 on the Lomax Bond, Street & Drainage improvements, <br />Project No. 1288-80; the change order will result in a $4,480.00 <br />decrease in the current contract price, from $1,269,924.00 to <br />$1,265,444.80. Seconded by Councilperson Faris.
