• • <br />• Minutes, Regular Meeting, June 17, 1981, Page 12 <br />Councilperson Simons asked the Mayor to read Resolution No. <br />81-14, recognizing Nelson F. (Pete) Gilliam for his contri- <br />butions to the City of La Porte and dedicating a small park <br />at North Holmes and Madison to henceforth be known as the <br />Nelson F. (Pete) Gilliam Memorial Park. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Simons to approve and adopt <br />Resolution No. 81-1 Seconded by Counci person Ki o eaux. <br />The motion carried, 9~ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, <br />Simons, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />Councilperson Gay asked that domething be done for the half- <br />street (North 11th) alongside La Porte Terrace. The street <br />is in bad disrepair. Gay asked further for Public Works to <br />take a look at the drainage in La Porte Terrace. <br />Councilperson Skelton reported a lake in District 5 from <br />Lobit to Carroll. He stated some work has been done in the <br />area but he was looking forward to more. Skelton reported he <br />had attended his first Houston-Galveston Area Council meeting <br />•. and found it to be very interesting. Home Rule cities under <br />25,000 had elected Mayor John Knox as their representative <br />and Councilperson Sandra Picket of. Liberty as alternate. <br />Mayor Meza introduced Resolution No. 81-15, a resolution <br />authorizing the City Manager to work with Harris County Housing <br />Authority through the Harris County Community Development <br />Agency. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Kibodeaux to approve and <br />adopt Resolution No. 81-15. Seconded by Councilperson Skelton. <br />The motion Carrie ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, <br />Simons, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />There being no further business to be brought before the Council, <br />the meeting was duly adjourned at 9:07 P.M. <br />Respectfully bmitted: <br />Betty .
