The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, <br />Simons, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />9. <br /> <br />Mayor Meza asked Planning and Zoning Chairman Pfeiffer for <br />their recommendation concerning the request for rezoning by <br />Decker McKim from Commercial to Industrial of a tract of <br />land in the Strang Subdivision containing 4.814 acres. <br />Subject property is located at the intersection of State <br />Highway 225 (south side) and Strang Road. <br /> <br />e. <br /> <br />Pfeiffer stated Planning and Zoning considered the property <br />well suited for a truck terminal and container storage, in <br />that it had access to rail and truck routes. Planning and <br />Zoning recommended the rezoning request be granted and a <br />special use permit be issued for truck terminal and/or con- <br />tainer storage. <br /> <br />City Attorney Askins read Ordinance No. 780-QQQ: AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 780, THE CITY OF LA PORTE ZONING <br />ORDINANCE, BY CHANGING THE CLASSIFICATION OF THAT CERTAIN <br />PARCEL OF LAND HEREIN DESCRIBED; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Westergren to pass and <br />approve Ordinance No. 780-QQQ as read by Askins rezoning a <br />4.814 acre tract of the Enoch Brinson Survey, with frontage <br />on State Highway 225 as its northern boundary, the Southern <br />Pacific Railroad right-of-way as its south boundary, and <br />Strang Road as its east boundary; said property to be zoned <br />"Industrial" with a special use permit and strictly limited <br />to shipping container storage and repair and truck terminal <br />operations. Seconded by Councilperson Skelton. The motion <br />carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, <br />Simons, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />9. Mayor Meza asked if the Commission had a recommendation to <br />make concerning the request by Brown and Root, Inc., to re- <br />zone a tract of land approximately 346.52 feet by 240 feet, <br />east of the Southern Pacific Railroad and at the west end of <br />"0" Street. Planning and Zoning Acting Chairman Pfeiffer <br />reported the Commission recommends the property be rezoned <br />from Commercial to Industrial, limited to the construction <br />of an asphalt batch plant. <br />
