City Attorney Askins read: A RESOLUTION AFFIRMING THE POLICY <br />OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE CONCERNING EMPLOYEES' SALARY UPON <br />P ROMOT I ON " <br />9. <br />10. <br />The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, <br />Simons, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Council considered the recommendation from Jerry Hodge con- <br />cerning bids received on janitorial and other related supplies. <br />Hodge reported La Porte received one (1) bid from Apple Prod- <br />ucts. No other bids were submitted and bid prices were con- <br />sistently higher than the prices now paid by the City. Hodge <br />recommended that the City either rebid these items or authorize <br />the warehouse to continue to buy on the open market. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Faris <br />janitorial supplies and other related s <br />market. Seconded y Councilperson Simo <br /> <br />to continue to purchase <br />upplies on the open <br />The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, <br />Simons, Gay, Skelton., Westergren. and Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />Council considered the recommendation from Jerry Hodge con- <br />cerning bids received on office supplies. <br />Hodge reported La Porte received bids from Bayshore Office <br />Supply for all items, 1 through 44, and Ken's Print Shop for <br />items 40 through 42 for office supplies. Checked against <br />prices that the City is now paying, prices are generally lower, <br />but some items are higher. Because the office supply business <br />is so competitive and only one (1) bid. was received for all <br />items, Hodge requested that the Council reject all bids re- <br />ceived and rebid these supplies. <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Kibodeaux to reject all <br />bids received for office supplies and authorize the staff to <br />rebid these items.
