~ ~ <br />• Minutes, Joint Public Hearing and Regular Meeting <br />October 21, 1981, page 6 <br />Harris County has available $28,000 for wood poles. Any other <br />poles at this intersection would have to be funded by the City <br />of La Porte. Lengthy discussion followed concerning life of <br />the poles and replacement. <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to advise the Harris <br />County Engineering Department the City Council feels wood poles <br />at the intersection of 16th Street and Spencer Hig way will e <br />satisfactory. Seconded y Counci person Simons. <br />The motion carried, 7 ayes and 2 nays. <br />Ayesy Councilpersons Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, Simons, <br />Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Nays: Councilpersons Malone and Gay <br />16. Administrative Reports: <br />City Manager Hudgens advised Council work had begun on the <br />west end of North H Street east of Big Island Slough and <br />street work has been done on North D Street. <br />• Hudgens requested a short executive session. <br />17. Council Action: <br />Longley: Requested an executive session to discuss two per- <br />sonnel items. <br />Faris: Requested an executive session to discuss a personnel <br />matter. <br />Gay: Expressed his appreciation to the citizens for their <br />interest. <br />Skelton: Thanked the citizens for coming out. Skelton asked <br />about a tar pot needed to fill the joints in the concrete <br />streets. He advised some action should be taken before per- <br />manent damage is done. <br />Mayor Meza: Announced. there would be a meeting at the Central <br />Appraisal District on October 22, 1981, at 7:00 P.M. <br />18. Council adjourned into executive session at 7:40 P.M. Council <br />reconvened at the Council table at 8:12 P.M. <br />Mayor Meza. read a formal resignation of City Manager James <br />• R. Hudgens dated October 12, 1981. <br />
