Meeting called to order by Mayor Meza at 7:00 P.M. <br />Members of the City Council Present: Mayor J. J. Meza, <br />Councilpersons Norman Malone, John Longley, Gus Faris, <br />Tom Simons, Deotis Gay, Don Skelton, Linda Westergren <br />Members of the City Council Absent: None <br />Members of the City Staff Present: City Attorney. Knox Askins, <br />City Secretary Betty Waters, Police Chief H. F. Freeman, <br />Public Works Director Jerry Hodge, Fire Marshal Paul Hicken- <br />bottom, Director of Engineering John Joerns, Parks Director <br />Stanley Sherwood, Chief Inspector David Paulissen, Purchasing <br />Person Jackson Ray <br />Others Present in the Council Chambers: Betsy Webber, Bay- <br />• shore Sun; Freida Beaty, Baytown Sun; Dave Corbin, Busch, <br />Hutchison and Associates. There were some 19 other persons <br />present in the Council Chambers. <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Norman L. Malone <br />3. The City Council considered the minutes of the Regular Meeting <br />of the La Porte City Council held December 19, 1981. A mo- <br />tion was made by Councilperson Skelton to accept the minutes <br />as presented. Secon ed by Councilperson Simons. The motion <br />carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Simons, Gay, <br />Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />4. Council considered an ordinance read by City Attorney Knox <br />Askins: AN ORDINANCE AP'iENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1000 OF THE CITY <br />OF LA PORTE, DESIGNATING THE AREA LQHERE BEER FOR CONSUMPTION <br />ON PREMISES MAY BE SOLD AND PROHIBITING THE SALE ELSEWHERE. <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Simons to approve the pas- <br />sage of Ordinance No. 1000E as read by-City Attorney As ins, <br />permitting the sale of beer for consumption at 1018 Highway <br />146 South, La Porte, Harris County, Texas, nown as Tooney's. <br />Seconded by Councilperson Westergren. <br />• Westergren: Mr. Mayor, I have a few questions about this. We <br />have an attachment here from Mr. Paulissen in regards to the <br />septic system. It is not very clear concerning any agreement <br />
