Mr. Sonny Black, representing the La Porte Rodeo Association will address the Council. Black; Mr. Mayor, Council, Ladies and Gentlemen, on behalf of the La Porte Livestock Show and Rodeo Association, we would like to extend an invitation to each of you to join us at the show and fair and auction at Sylvan Beach on the 27th of this month. That is a week from this Saturday. Also, we have the play games, horsemanship games at the Lomax Riding Arena on April the 9th and 10th, and at this time I would like to say "thank you" for all the efforts that have been put forth - the lights, the sand and everything involved in preparing the arena out there. It looks very good. However, we would like a little tune-up in the area of some dirt left in piles. We are in a crunch now for a little parking. The Association definitely supports the baseball program. We think it's one of the best in the country, but we would like to see a little help to update the grading and so forth in this area so we can get our people in. ~~e have people coming from Cleveland, Dayton, Baytown, and all over the country. So you can see we will have a large amount of trailers coming into this area. We have information that there is 2~ acres for sale at this time next to the arena. We would like to solicit a little help to see what progress we could make in purchasing this land. If the folks do not know, this arena is very important to our operation. We now have four young ladies in our area who are recognized state wide from the Live Stock Show in Houston. They are top-notch horsewomen and we are dadgummed proud of them. Thank you.
