Meza at 9:07 P.M. <br />Members of the City Council Present: Mayor J. J. Meza, <br />Councilpersons Norman Malone, Jo n Longley, Edward Matuszak, <br />Kevin Graves, Deotis Gay, Don Skelton, Linda Westergren <br />Members of the City Council Absent: Councilperson Lindsay <br />Pfeiffer <br />Members of the City Staff Present: City Manager Jack Owen, <br />City Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Betty T. Waters <br />There were members of the press and some 200 citizens present <br />in the Council Chambers. <br />• 2. The election returns were canvassed by the City Council - <br />2255 ballots were cast <br />City Attorney Askins read: AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE RESULTS <br />OF THE RUN-OFF ELECTION IN THE .CITY OF LA PORTE ON APRIL 17, <br />1982, FOR THE ELECTION OF A MAYOR AND A COUNCILPERSON - DISTRICT <br />2 <br />Declaring winners: Mayor Virginia Cline <br />Councilperson Dist. 2 - John D. Carr Longley <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to accept and adopt <br />Ordinance No. 1305 as read by the City Attorney. Second by <br />Councilperson Gay.
