~ ~ <br />• <br />RESOLUTION N0. 83- 24 <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION WITHIN <br />THE GREATER HARRIS COUNTY 9-1-1 EMERGENCY NETWORK; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; <br />AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF, <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte is a City that lies wholly <br />or partly within Harris County; and <br />WHEREAS, a majority of the votes cast by the voters of the <br />City of La Porte, in the November 8, 1983 election, as found in <br />the Final Official Canvass of the Election Records of Harris <br />• County, Texas, County Clerk's Office (Film Code No. 738-55- <br />0084 through 738-55-0097), were in favor of confirming the <br />creation of the Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network <br />and authorizing a 9-1-1 emergency service fee to be charged; <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of La Porte: <br />Section 1. That the matters and facts recited in the preamble <br />of this Resolution are found and determined to be true <br />and correct. <br />Section 2. That the City of La Porte become a participating <br />jurisdiction of the Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency <br />Network pursuant to the provisions of the 9-1-1 Emergency <br />Number Act with all the rights, privileges and duties as <br />• stated in said Act, particularly the charging and collecting <br />of the 9-1-1 emergency service fee according to the terms <br />of said Act. <br />Section 3. It is understood that once confirmed, the Greater <br />Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network will be subject to <br />public review every three (3) years, pursuant to Section <br />15 of the 9-1-1 Emergency Number Act, and that the con- <br />tinued existence or dissolution of the Greater Harris <br />• County 9-1-1 Emergency Network will be effected only by <br />the terms of said Act. <br />~~ <br />
