Mayor Cline called the special meeting to order at 6:00 P.M. <br /> Members of the Council Present: Mayor Virginia Cline, <br /> Councilpersons Linda Westergren, John Longley, Ed Matuszak, <br /> Lindsay Pfeiffer, Deotis Gay, B. Don Skelton, Norman Malone, <br /> Kevin Graves <br /> Members of the Council Absent: None <br /> Members of the City Staff Present: City Manager Jack Owen, <br /> City Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Cherie Black, <br /> Director of Administrative Services Bob Herrera, Graduate <br /> Engineer John Joerns, Director of Parks and Recreation <br /> Stan Sherwood, Purchasing Agent Jackson Ray <br />. Others Present: Linda Castleberry, Bayshore Sun-Broadcaster; <br /> Sherri Carver, Bay town Sun; Mrs. Longley, (Councilperson Longley's <br /> Mother); 4 citizens <br /> 2. Mayor Cline explained the purpose of the public hearing is in <br /> regard to issuance of revenue bonds for Fairmont Plaza Joint <br /> Venture. Revenue bonds in the amount of $3,650,000.00 to <br /> finance Fairmont Plaza shopping center were approved by the <br /> La Porte Industrial Development Corporation at a meeting <br /> just prior to this one. <br /> Mayor Cline asked those who wished to speak in favor of the <br /> bonds to please come forward and address Council. <br /> Mr. Decker McKim: Explained the location of the shopping center, <br /> a few proposed businesses, and reported the Venture has a <br /> purchaser for the bonds. <br /> Mayor Cline asked if any member of Council had questions for <br /> Mr. McKim. <br /> Councilperson Skelton: What other type businesses do you <br /> anticipate in this shopping center? <br /> Mr. McKim: I talked with Mr. Nichols today and was told he ;,,; <br />. had been talking to the postal authorities about the possibility <br /> of locating the post office there; he has been talking to <br /> several restaurants, but does not have anything firmed up. <br /> --'-,i.~ <br />
