• • <br />t <br />RESOLUTION N0. 83-3 <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ENACTMENT OE HOUSE BILL 194 <br />AND URGING ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS IN THE STATE OF TEXAS TO PASS SAID <br />LEGISLATION AND THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF TEXAS TO SIGN THE SAME. <br />WHEREAS, heretofore previously, House Bill 194 has been <br />filed and is currently before the House of Representatives of the <br />State of Texas; and <br />WHEREAS, said legislation has been submitted to the gen- <br />eral convention of the Texas Municipal League; and <br />WHEREAS, the Resolutions Committee of the Texas Municipal <br />League unanimously approved said legislation, and- the General <br />Assembly of the Texas Municipal League likewise approved said <br />• legislation; and <br />WHEREAS, House Bill 194 provides needed flexibility for <br />cities in the State of Texas to assist the property owners and <br />residents in said cities in securing replacement of sanitary sewer <br />laterals when the same becomes necessary because of the relocation <br />and/or replacement of sanitary sewer mains; and <br />WHEREAS, the health, safety and well-being of every <br />person in any city in the State of Texas is dependent upon an <br />efficient system for the transportation of sewage and wastewater <br />products; and <br />WHEREAS, it may be totally impossible for a resident of <br />a city, faced with an expenditure of in excess of $1,000.00, to <br />secure a low-cost loan for the money necessary to accomplish such <br />replacement of a sewer lateral; and <br />WHEREAS, the residents of Texas cities are fully protected <br />under the terms of such legislation by reason of their options to <br />withdraw in the event the cost for such work is excessive; NOW, <br />THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF LA POR E _, TEXAS: <br />1.
