Mayor Cline called the public hearing on federal revenue <br />sharing to order. <br />City Manager Owen explained that the City has a balance <br />left in federal revenue sharing funds of $177,083.31. <br />Anticipated funds for the coming fiscal year amount to <br />approximately $213,491, although the funds have not yet <br />been allocated by Congress. Owen reported that TML fore- <br />sees no problems in the funds being allocated. <br />Mayor Cline asked for public input as to how they would <br />like these funds used. The following persons spoke: <br />a. John Paul Zemanek, 3102 Valley Brook - Speaking as a <br />citizen and also for the Chamber of Commerce, would <br />like to have another $10,000 added to the Christmas <br />lighting fund. Would also like to request $15,000 <br />be set aside for the Clean Up -Green Up project. <br />b. Jennie Riley, 401 N. 6th - Would like $8,000 be used <br />• to finance the transportation program for the coming <br />year. <br />C. Sue Farmer, 115 Edgewood - Speaking on behalf of the <br />Seamen's Center, requested $15,000 operating expenses <br />for the Center. <br />d. (Garbled name) - Does yard work and has cut grass at <br />the Community Center for no compensation and would <br />like to do work for the City if they need his services. <br />e. Lois Compton, 307 S. First - Would like to see money <br />used to put a City park on the property adjacent to <br />City Hall. <br />f. Councilperson Skelton - $12,000 for concrete walk <br />along G Street from San Jacinto to Broadway. <br />g. Councilperson Longley - $100,000 to improve La Porte <br />Municipal Airport. <br />h. Councilperson Malone - A swimming pool in the Lomax area. <br />i. Councilperson Matuszak - $25,000 for Clean Up -Green Up <br />project. <br />• j. Councilperson Westergren - Bicycle path/walkway along <br />Broadway (old 146) past the housing project on Old 146. <br />
