Tf it had hit at 10 or 12 in the daytime, people would have been out looking at it. Since it hit at night, people were in their houses and T feel this cut down on injuries. Once again, thanks to the staff, and T hope we can do some- thing to show the city employees how much we do appreciate them.. Cline: Letters will be sent to all organizations and those who helped during the storm.. Was more appreciative of our good La Porte water than she is of electricity. We kept our water supply and I want to thank Jerry and the people who worked on that for keeping it supplied. to our citizens. Reminded Council that August 20 had been scheduled for the employee picnic. This still planned to have the picnic at a later date when things are cleaned up and wants to see this go forth. This has always been an annual picnic for the employees and their families, and this year we were to make our first service awards to them. Thinks that is very impor- tant and as soon as we can find a place that we can get cleaned up we need to go ahead with it. Thinks Council needs to do something separate. from the picnic for the employees them- selves. Skelton: Some senior citizens are still without power, and some of them are ill. Ts there any way to get them emergency generators? Feels some of them might not make it until they get power. Mr. Owen: Knows of no generators available, but Red Cross will send a nurse down to check on them daily, and will move them if they feel it is necessary. 12. Motion was made by Councilperson Longley to adjourn into execu- tive session. Second by Councilperson Malone.: Council adjourned into executive session at 7:43 P.M. and returned to the Council table at 8:15 P.M. Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton, ,seconded by Council- person Gay to place termination of am ulance service to BayMUD area on the next agenda. The motion carried, 7 ayes-and O~nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, Malone, Longley, Matuszak and Mayor Cline Nays: None
