<br />• Minutes, Public Hearing <br />La Porte City Council <br />September 7, 1983, Page <br /> <br />and Regular Meeting <br />7 <br />Mr. Owen requested a meeting of the Comprehensive Plan <br />Steering committee be set for September 19 at 6:30 P.M., <br />with representatives from Turner Collie & Braden. A <br />tentative date of September 29 at 7:00 P.M. has been set <br />for a public meeting with TCB and the Steering Committee <br />to start informing the public what the comprehensive plan <br />is all about. <br />Mr. Owen has received notification from Southwestern Bell <br />that 35 men are coming in to start eliminating the telephone <br />disruption we have been experiencing since the storm. <br />18. Council Action: <br />G ~: Enjoyed seeing everyone out tonight.. Various comments <br />given by Mr. Bell regarding the job done during the hurricane <br />were appreciated, but he feels some of Mr. Bell's other com- <br />ments were not appropriate. He agrees that all departments <br />did a wonderful job. <br />• Skelton: Lots of phones are still out from the storm. Some <br />senior citizens still are without phone service, which places <br />a real hardship on them. He is gratefuithat additional <br />people are coming in to alleviate the problem. <br />Asked if a protest had been made by the City to PUC on HL&P's <br />rate. increase. The City Attorney will study it further to <br />see if a formal protest needs to be sent. <br />Malone: Appreciates what Dick <br />said. He has had only about 3 <br />these because he knows what a <br />done. <br />The Future Farmers of America <br />of the year on September 8 at <br />room, and he'd like to invite <br />to support these students. <br />Bell and so many people have <br />complaints, and is ignoring <br />great job the-City staff has <br />are holding its first meeting <br />the Police Department's class- <br />everyone to attend, as we need <br />Requested an executive session on personnel. <br />Longley: Happy birthday to Mr. Owen <br />Matuszak: Seconds that birthday wish. He is glad to have a <br />place to dump metal buildings now. He had seen them still <br />• lying around all over the place and didn't know why. <br />
