Second by Co <br />motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Matuszak, Graves, <br />Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br />13. Council considered awarding a bid for garbage trucks. <br />Steve Gillett, Assistant Director of Public Works, explained <br />that the low bidder did not meet bid specifications, and that <br />the next low bidder was only $406 higher and. did meet bid <br />specifications. Staff recommends the bid be awarded to the <br />next low bidder meeting specifications. <br />Motion was made. by Councilperson Westergren to award the bid <br />for garbage trucks to Environmental Sales and. Service in the <br />amount of 127,396. Second by Councilperson Skelton. The <br />motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Matuszak, Graves, <br />Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br />14. Council considered a method. to express appreciation. to volun- <br />teer firemen and police reserve officers. <br />It was noted that these people spend countless hours serving <br />the community with no compensation. It had been suggested by <br />Councilperson Westergren that perhaps a way could. be-found to <br />show .the. City's appreciation for their efforts.. <br />Mr. Owen suggested a one-time payment of $2.5.00 each, .to at <br />least partially cover gas and oil., etc., .that these people <br />have used going to and from their call outs. <br />Motion was made by Council erson Wester ren to ive a one-time <br />payment of 25.00 each to all police reserve officers and <br />volunteer firemen. Second by Councilperson Matuszak,, The <br />motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />
