~~.~~~~
__ _' LA FORTE, TEXAS 77571 7p1 $AN JACINTO ~713~ 171-0332
JOE D. RICH
PASTOR
Honorable Virginia Cline
and
Members of City Council
604 West Fairmont Parkway
La Porte, Texas 77571
Dear Mayor Cline and City Council Members:
April 27, 1984
Bayshore Baptist Church has experienced extensive growth during the last
three years, with two hundred additions each year. Our facilities are
over-crowded, and we do not have adequate space in our present plant to
teach and train this great influx of members. Our church is presently
in a building program to alleviate the situation.
We have had five architectural firms to discuss our building needs, and
they have all informed us that for the size sanctuary we will need, we
must have an area 190' by 100'. Our existing parking lot on the south
side of our two-story building would be the most logical place for a new
sanctuary, but this area is only 100' by 100'. HJe own all of the lots
on the block where our present buildings are located with the exception
of the four lots on the south corner of Virginia and G Street, and we own
about three-fourths of block 277. We have discussed building our sanc-
tuary across G Street, but the members and children would have to cross
the street during inclement weather and in traffic. The only other al-
ternative would be if you would allow G Street to be closed. Then we would
have ample room to build next to our two-story building and place the
parking lot to the south.
The members of Bayshore Baptist Church prayerfully request that you con-
sider this matter. With the Lord's help, we are doing arhat we can to
further the Gospel in our community.
We will be available for discussion at any time. Thank-.you for your con-
sideration.
Sincerel~
e D. Rich y.-
astor
JDR/1 ~ ~ ~
\ .
r ~ ~~..
~, _ ~ r:.
l' :~~~~ ~~li~--~
