BOX 638
BAYTOWN, TEXAS 77520
713-422-3677
April 5, 1984
Mayor Virginia Cline and
City Council of
The City of La Porte
P. 0. Box 1115
La Porte, Texas 77571
RE: REQUESTED STREET CLOSING ON 17th Street, La Porte, Texas
Dear Mayor Cline and City Council Members;
This letter is our request that the portion of 17th Street
in La Porte, Texas, lying between Blocks 1177 and 1178 be closed
as shown on the attached plat. Blocks 1177 and 1178 are outlined
in green are currently either owned by Eddie V. Gray, Trustee, or
under contract for purchase by Eddie V. Gray, Trustee. Stuart
Haynsworth is the General rlanaging Partner of La Porte 81, Ltd.,
which is the Seller in the contract to Eddie V. Gray, Trustee,
for a portion of Blocks 1177 and 1178 as shown in orange on the
plat. The portion of 17th Street that these owners are
requesting be closed is that 60' x 400' strip outlined in pink on
the plat.
The areas shown in yellow on the plat represent industrial
property in which streets have been closed to allow for the
industrial use of these properties. The portion of West 0 Street
to the South of Block 1177 and 1178, as well as the portion of
West N Street to the North of Blocks 1177 and 1178 are open
streets, so the .closing of the portion of 17th Street between
Blocks 1177 and 1178 will not create any access problems to any
of the surrounding properties. Further the part of 17th Street
directly South of these two Blocks has already been closed, that
being the portion between B1oAks 1202 and 1201. The owners
therefore request the closing of this portion of 17th Street in
order that they may either develop or market this industrial
site as one tract.
The proof of ownership of Blocks 1177 and 1178 is attached
in the form of deeds on this property.
