Mr. John Focke was scheduled to appear at this time to discuss <br />the proposed naval base, but had been called out of town and <br />was not present. <br />Mayor Cline announced that since Mr. Focke was not present she <br />would like to use the time to make a special presentation. <br />She then asked Lt. James LaFitte to come forward, and <br />presented him with a plaque from the City commending him for <br />recently receiving his Masters degree. <br />5. Council considered the Entex rate adjustment. <br />Mr. Weldon Randall and Mr. Richard DeSalme of Entex were <br />present. <br />City Manager Owen briefly reviewed the rate request and noted <br />that staff knew of no reason it should not be granted. <br />~~ <br />The City Attorney reiterated Mr. Owens remarks and stated the <br />rates had been reviewed with Mr. Randall and Mr. DeSalme. <br />Mr. DeSalme explained how the rate increase figure was <br />achieved. <br />After questions from Council had been answered, motion was <br />~€~ Second by Councilperson Malone. The motion carried, <br />ayes and 3 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Bridges, Waters, Gay, Westergren <br />and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: Councilpersons Matuszak, Pfeiffer and Skelton <br />6. Council considered appointing one representative and one <br />alternate to Houston-Galveston Area Council. <br />Mayor Cline stated that this is a yearly appointment and that <br />Councilperson Skelton is the current representative and <br />Councilperson Matuszak is the alternate at this time. <br />• <br /> <br /> <br />I <br />
