Second by Councilperson <br />Gay. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Bridges, Matuszak, Waters, Pfeiffer, <br />Gay, Skelton, Westergren, Malone and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br />13. Council considered a resolution endorsing the establishment of <br />a Navy Homeport at the Port of Houston Bayport Terminal. <br />Mr. John Focke addressed Council regarding the proposed <br />facility and its impact on this area. General discussion was <br />held and questions from Council were answered by Mr. Focke. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to approve the <br />resolution in support of the Navy Homeport. Second by <br />Councilperson Matuszak. <br />• The City Attorney then read: RESOLUTION 84-24 - A RESOLUTION <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTS, ENDORSING <br />ESTABLISHP4ENT OF A U. S. NAVY HOMEPORT AT THE PORT OF HOUSTON <br />BAYPORT TERMINAL; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />The vote was then taken and the motion carried; 8 ayes and 1 <br />nay. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Bridges, Matuszak, Waters, Pfeiffer, <br />Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Malone <br />Nays: Mayor Cline <br />Mayor Cline took the opportunity at this time to announce that <br />the City of La Porte has received a Certificate of Conformance <br />in Financial Reporting, and is one of only 43 cities in the <br />State to do so. This is the Cityts third consecutive and we <br />are justly proud of this accomplishment. <br />The Mayor introduced Debbie Cole, Finance Officer, and Nell <br />Lange and Cynthia Alexander of the Finance Department. She <br />congratulated them and presented a certificate and a plaque to <br />them from the Municipal Finance Officers Association of the <br />U.S. and Canada. <br /> <br /> <br />
