Council considered approving the minutes of the special called <br />meeting held June 17, 1985. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelto~to~,pprove the <br />minutes of the special called meeting as ores nted. Second by <br />Councilperson Walker. The motion carried, 7 ayes, 0 nays, 1 <br />abstain. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Walker, Lloyd, Matuszak, Waters, <br />Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Councilperson Pfeiffer (was not present at meeting <br />on June 17) <br />5. Ms. Kay Tatum addressed Council regarding the Parks & <br />Recreation Department. <br />6. The Mayor proclaimed Selective Service System Registration <br />Awareness Week and Red Cross Safety Week. <br />The Mayor then called Police Chief Herb Freeman and his family <br />to the Council table. The Mayor proclaimed June 28 as Herbert <br />F. Freeman Day and presented Chief Freeman with the framed <br />proclamation and a plaque of appreciation for his 24 years of <br />service to the City. <br />7. Council considered a resolution naming the Police Building, <br />and a special presentation to Chief Freeman. <br />The Mayor read a resolution calling for the Police <br />Administration Building to henceforth be the Herbert F. <br />Freeman, Jr., Police Administration Building. The Mayor <br />presented Chief Freeman the framed resolution to hang next to <br />the Chief's picture in the lobby of that building. <br />Councilperson Waters presented Chief Freeman an engraved gold <br />watch from the City, in appreciation of his dedicated service <br />to the City. Chief Freeman received a standing ovation from <br />Council and the audience. <br />
