<br />• <br />Minutes, Regular Meeting, La Porte City Council <br />June 23, 1986, Page 6 <br />The City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 86-18 - A RESOLUTION OF <br />THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, IN SUPPORT OF THE DEEPENING AND <br />WIDENING OF THE HOUSTON SHIP CHANNEL. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Gav to approve Resolution <br />86 18 as read by the Citv Attornev. Second by Councilperson <br />Lloyd. <br />After discussion, Councilperson Gay amended his motion to read <br />"approve Resolution 86-18 as amended by the Citv Attornev". <br />Second by Councilperson Lloyd. The motion carried, 9 ayes and <br />0 nays. <br />The Mayor called a three-minute recess, and after reconvening, <br />item 12 was addressed. <br />12. Workshop Item: Discussion of Management Options for Golf <br />Course. <br />Director of Parks and Recreation Stan Sherwood addressed <br />Council regarding maintenance and management of the golf <br />course, and introduced Mr. Ken James of American Golf <br />Association, who addressed Council and presented slides of <br />some of the golf courses under his company's management. <br />13. Administrative Reports: The City Manager inquired of Council <br />if they would prefer to cancel the Council orientation that <br />has been scheduled, or if they would prefer to wait until a <br />new City Manager comes on board to hold the orientation. <br />It was generally agreed that the orientation was needed, and <br />it was decided that perhaps some sort of breakfast meetings <br />could be scheduled on a regular basis for discussions. <br />14. Council Action: Councilperson Skelton and Mayor Malone <br />brought items to Council's attention. <br />15. Council adjourned into executive session on personnel, <br />regarding review of City Manager qualifications, at 9:30 P.M., <br />and reconvened at 10:12 P.M. <br />
