~ ~ I • <br />PROCESS DESCRIPTION: <br />The vent stream will be fed directly to a "Throx" incinerator fueled by <br />waste RCL's, where the VOC's and RCL's will be burned, forming HC1, H2O <br />and CO The incinerator has an HCl scrubber on the combustion gases, <br />where ~he HC1 will be absorbed and recovered as aqueous HC1, which will <br />be returned to the crude propylene oxide plant for use in the process as <br />bottoms treatment. <br />The vent gases, containing small amounts of HC1, will go to a caustic <br />scrubber where the remaining HC1 will be removed. The remaining vents <br />will be released to the atmosphere. The spent caustic stream will go to <br />an existing bio-oxidation unit where any dissolved organic chemicals <br />will be removed before the aqueous stream is released to the Plant B <br />outfall. <br />EQUIPMENT LIST: <br />Throx Unit: <br />Incineration unit with heat recovery, instrumentation, <br />condensate system, pumps <br />HCL Scrubber: <br />FRP tower, acid pumps, instrumentation <br />Caustic Scrubber: <br />FRP tower, pumps, instrumentation <br />Blower and Stack: <br />Blower, stack, instrumentation <br />II.
